[glow=red,2,300]Forum coding[/glow]
Have you just joined our forum and don't understand what all the buttons above do in the reply box? Well today is your lucky day. I'm going to give you a detailed and thorough lesson which will help you throughout your time on the nintendo forums. All the coding I'm going to be showing you today will be incredibly simple, everything should be easy to grasp and if you have ANY problems with coding at all on the forum please contact me because coding on the forum is one of my main jobs to help you with. If you do not understand or you didn't like the tutorial below, message me with your thoughts and opinions on the thread. I will admit, this thread won't be perfect but it'll be VERY helpful.
O.k, lets get started on the first button on the top left. This should look like a B in bold. Using bold writing is a nice effect for exhaduration or just getting your title looking nice. To use this button click on it, then just put your cursor in between the [b)and the[/b).
So it should look like this (ignore the dots inbetween it).
[b.] BOLD

Now you have the idea how this rule applies with forum coding it should be the same for the I button, which is italics, the U button for Underline, the S button which puts a line through your work, the G button which makes your content glow, the D button which shadows your work. The next buttons are pretty standard, making your words fit around pictures, moving it to the left and centering it e.t.c. I'm pretty sure you can figure it out.
The next buttons you have are located on the top right, your two main buttons there are the colour button and the size button. The size button works the same as the standard buttons at the start except from you should be able to change the number from 1-7 (default is 2) if you delete where the 2 is and change it. The colour button is a tad more complex, this time you have a drop down list. Be warned, this infuriated me at first but I than saw it was little more than simple. All you do is choose a drop down colour and put your words inbetween the two codes just like the other standard buttons we worked with earlier.
To speed this slow coding process up, try highlighting your words than clicking one of the standard buttons. It automatically puts your codes either side of your words making it quicker and a lot more time consuming to the coding user.
The bottom row is a little bit trickier than the row above, for instance we have the very much underused YOUTUBE button. This button is harder to understand than the standard ones, but yet it's still quite simple. When you press the button it gives you these codes . Now with these codes, you find any youtube video you like or want to show people and copy and paste the watch bit onwards like this: watch?v=4MzaG27y500 and put it inbetween the youtube codes.
Now lets try that.
(Watch the video, it's not copyright. Make sure you remember that rule when posting videos)
Now the arrow next to the youtube button acts like your standard buttons on the top. Put text inbetween it and it does something.
Lets have a look at it (ignore the dot) [blockquote.][/blockquote].
This looks legit, so lets put something in it and see what it does.
Blockquote test
There you have it, that is the rule about block quotes.
Now the next one is daunting.
The "HYPERLINK" can be a real pain at most times of uncertainty. It took me till about 75 posts until I understood this button on the nintendo forums. The coding is like standard but you need a link and ignore the codes which come up when you press it. To have a succesful hyperlink (like the ones in my signature) you need the codes as the following (WITHOUT THE DOT) [.url=]. That is your standard url hyperlink code so I will show you have to split it up legit. After the first bit: (without dot) [.url= you then put the link you want the clicker who clicks on it to go to. After you have put the link in then close it with the ] in the code. Now write your writing you want the user to see when they click on it after the ] When the writing is placed close it with the second part of the code This is what your hyperlink should look like in code (without the dot) [.url=http://nintendoforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pkmnbattles&action=display&thread=20]Official Pokemon BW NF Battle League
This is what it should look like in view Official Pokemon BW NF Battle League. Now you've got that sorted out I'm giving you our last tutorial, the image. It's going to be the last becaus the others are useless or standard.
For image the code should look like this [/img]
Find any link for an image and insert it between the code, if you want to upload your own picture I suggest you use Photobucket as that gives you automatic codes for forums!
Just click on the smileys for them to work, Thanks for reading : )
